We don’t always get the privilege to plan things well in advance. This is especially true for the body. The older you get, the more it decides what will work now and what won’t. Don’t believe me, please have this delicious can of expired beans! (I love beans, but you know what I am getting at) The same goes for Marketing and advertising. I mean, I love the idea of knowing that every business card I hand out will lead to new business, but alas…it simply does not work like that. In fact, the most time-consuming part will be setting up the marketing plan and then seeing it through…
Here are some facts around the Planning of how you are “going to get your name out there”. Stop panicking! We kept it down to 7 points! A Quick and insightful read!
- Marketing will be the Center. It determines the growth and the success of the whole Brand/Business. I hear you say but…but what? You deliver a great service/product. Of course you do! Means nothing if no one knows about you – unless your Social circle expands over millions of people! It boils down to the positioning of the business in the market place, in relation to competitors and its chosen customers.
- What’s The Goal! We all need a vision. Yes, I too got tired of working for a BOSS, but what comes after that? you need to look past this point…at some point. Frustration cannot be the only reason you set out for a “better life”. Do you want to just make a living? Wanna change the world? Figure that out and then work for it!
- The average Consumer has an attention span of 8 seconds. Based on an article from Time Magazine https://time.com/3858309/attention-spans-goldfish/. You need to not only “blow their minds” with an alluring product or deal…you must convert that into action. So if you sell Printers for a living with a marginal selling price starting at 10k. Your deal needs to look Annapurna-Curry-hot from the get go!
- If you use Images that align with your article, you are likely to get 94% more views! Content Marketing matters, what you “put out there” needs to have some sort of value…but before you get to open the value door…you need to get consumers to the door! And this is done by quality photos, and if you have the time and resources…Video!

- Select your Market. Yes, I often remind myself of this all the time! Not everyone is your client. So stop panicking about Competitors selling their Vetkoeke at R10 while you sell your mince filled made from Ouma Koties’s special generational recipe at R25…there’s a reason people keep coming back to you, and price probably has nothing to do with it.
- Once you start, keep going. I am sure this one sounds left field, but we are all after that winning formula. So once you find it – and you will find it – stay persistent, stay consistent and don’t give up.
