14th May 2019Marketing and The Importance of a Clickable Email Signature
14th June 2019Don’t even. You and I both know things were getting weird when your 67 year old Mom joined Facebook, followed by your 95 Year old Gran. So, it’s safe to say almost everybody and anybody is hanging out on Facebook. I was still working for a Boss when it was quite a thing if you were caught perusing social Media Platforms; over 10 years later you are now asked if you could maybe “give us a like” after your job interview.
The biggest epiphany most Facebook users seem to experience is understanding that 5000 friends on Facebook does not equate to 5000 customers on Your Facebook Business Page. It’s a hard truth, but it is what it is. So then how do we use this platform as a means of generating business? I think before we do that, let’s look at some of the Documented Facts about Facebook.
- On average there are 486,183 users per minute accessing Facebook from their mobile
- 79% of all users are accessing Facebook from their mobile.
- There are 745 million daily mobile users
- Facebook is adding 7,246 people every 15 minutes; or 8 per second
- Every minute there are 150,000 messages sent
- Every 15 minutes there are over 49 million posts. To be precise 49,433,000 or 3 million posts per minute
- There are 100,000 friend requests every 10 minutes
- There are 500,000 Facebook “likes” every minute
- Facebook generates $1.4 million in revenue every hour
- Nearly 73% of Facebook’s ad revenue comes from mobile advertising
- Facebook earns $2.5 billion a quarter from mobile advertising
- People share 1.3 million pieces of content on Facebook every minute of every day
Yikes! Which again reiterates how Your business can benefit from being on Social Media Platforms. But how do you get people to like it…follow it…and above all…stay engaged? Well, start with a brand. I’m not talking: “Denise did art in Primary School and collected 7 Gold stars, now she’s making my logo in Paint for me” type brand. Start strong. Get someone who can create a strong logo and carry it through on various mediums. This could begin with the introduction of an icon or an element that ties it all together, or even a simple colour. We often forget that a brand is not just a logo. It’s what you stand for, and it’s how everything is brought together.
Profile Picture
Leave a lasting first Impression. It’s most likely the first thing new Followers (Possible Clients) will see. With a space of 180 x 180 pixels, you have to keep it simple and to the point. No long business names or Catchphrases. If want to be respected as a pro, then look like one.
Header Image / Cover Photo
Don’t get me wrong. That photo you took of a pelican during dusk that looks like it’s about to swallow the sun will inspire many, many paintings still to come…but this is your business page. And tastes differ. What you need here is less than a second to tell people what they are looking at and give them that “yes…yes I need this” feeling. It takes up a lot of space. So use it wisely.
Add Video
When we hear video we think…EXPENSIVE. And No. Not really. A simple Gif animation or edited home video with a logo… even we can do that, AND it’s not going to cost you an arm and leg … you’ll still be able to add pudding after every meal.
There’s more to life than Links
You know those funny memes you share with a logo in the corner? Or even those motivational quotes? All these things add up. Every time one of those hits a chord it means “shareability” And every share could make someone curious enough to visit…and join your page! Don’t have the time? You know, if you need a Designer…. 🙂
The sizes of your images
I suppose this goes hand in hand with number 4. If you can get someone to make it for you. They can optimise your images and the final result looks great!
Respond to Messages ASAP
I can feel you thinking about that last slice of cheese in the fridge, so let’s finish this off. Facebook likes to tell the world if you are a business and you are not responding to clients fast enough. So try, TRY respond as fast as you can. First impressions COUNT.
