28th September 202010 Simple Ways to be and stay Creative in any Industry
28th October 2020Social media marketing is great – it’s cost efficient, easy, and engaging. That’s why MOST businesses are on social media. Every day there are thousands of posts, all vying for attention. So, what’s the secret to a strong social media presence? Brand consistency!
It’s all about being recognisable! When your followers are scrolling through their news feeds, they should immediately be able to spot your post among all the others. Consistency is not just about the way the post looks, though. Brand consistency includes everything from your tone of voice to your aesthetic.
In this blog post we’ll be sharing 4 major ways that you can ensure brand consistency on social media.
#1 Voice
What type of industry are you in? Does it call for you to be serious? Funny? Are you sharing facts? Do you post paragraphs, or do you get to the point? When determining your brand voice, think of who your target audience is and how you would speak to them. Either way, it’s important that you be true to your brand as your voice shows your personality!
Your brand voice should stay consistent for all your posts, across all platforms and should also be reflected on your website. Creating and staying consistent with your brand voice will give your audience something to identify with and that will resonate with them.
#2 Content
What you post should be relevant to your business and brand. If you are selling vacuum cleaners there’s no need to post a meme about tech (even if it’s funny). Your audience is following you because they want to see content relevant to who YOU are as a brand.
You also don’t want to bombard your followers with only “selling” posts. True, social media provides a platform to advertise your products and services, but only posting about your offers can lead to social media fatigue. We recommend the 80/20 Rule. 80% of your posts should be informative or educational, while 20% focus on selling.
Don’t know what to post? Think about your industry and how you’d like to inform your followers that you are an expert in your field. Post tips, facts, myths, challenges, quotes etc. that your followers might find interesting and will get them to engage with your posts!
#3 Posting
Just like everything else, the frequency of your posts should also be consistent. Try to find a balance for when and what you are posting. Too many posts could start to annoy your followers, while too few posts will make you forgettable.
We recommend posting 2-3 times a week in order to keep your brand top of mind to your followers. Creating a posting schedule will help you stay organised and will enable you to plan your posts for the month ahead. You can even schedule your posts ahead of time so that there’s no last-minute rush for creating and posting relevant content.
#4 Design
Last, but not least, your profile should have a consistent look and feel. Make sure that your profile is following a theme, which incorporates a uniform colour scheme, the same types of images and the same branding elements on your posts. People are visual and are attracted to visually appealing aesthetics. Use this to your advantage by keeping it consistent! Now your followers will immediately be able to spot your post among all the others filling up their news feeds.
Following these four ways will ensure that your brand is recognisable on social media. And brands that are recognisable are known and trusted by their audience.
Remember, a consistent brand is a dependable brand in the eyes of the consumer.
